On Sunday, February 27th, 2011, Colin Firth gratefully accepted the most prestigious of all Awards – the Academy Award – for Best Actor in a Leading Role. It was his gut-wrenching portrayal of the stammering King George VI in The King’s Speech that catapulted the Brit to the high point of his career. After having won numerous other awards for his performance, he was a strong favorite to win and this was his golden moment.
