Elizabeth Taylor died March 23rd, 2011, of congestive heart failure at the age of 79. Although her amazing talent and rare beauty were the cornerstones of her successful career, her lasting legacy is one of charitable giving, especially to HIV and AIDS Research. Here is an expansive list of Dame Elizabeth Taylor’s honors and achievements:

1984 – Fund raised for AIDS Project Los Angeles benefit dinner, being the first celebrity to speak out for AIDS victims;

On Sunday, February 27th, 2011, Colin Firth gratefully accepted the most prestigious of all Awards – the Academy Award – for Best Actor in a Leading Role. It was his gut-wrenching portrayal of the stammering King George VI in The King’s Speech that catapulted the Brit to the high point of his career. It is with some trepidation that I write a Meryl Streep bio. After all, how does one write a brief summary of the world’s best female actress? Of course most biographies would solely highlight Meryl’s acting credentials and nominations, but although these are incredibly impressive, Celebrity Short Stories tends to focus more on the person behind the actor, and Meryl Streep shines, perhaps even more strongly (if that is possible) in this light.
