The Malaysian Prime Minister’s wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor donated 1.8 million in Malaysian currency to Japan relief.  The funds will make their way to the Japanese Red Cross to help with rebuilding.  The funds were raised through the Malaysian Girl Guides Association of which Rosmah is president.

The donation is perhaps one of “setting things right” as Rosmah brought shame to Malaysia when she suggested that Japan’s crisis was a lesson to them for not respecting the environment and climate change – a statement so ridiculous as to cause an uproar amongst the country’s residents.

The 1.8 million Malaysian Ringgit translate into approximately $598,000 USD.

If you wish to donate to Japan relief, many celebrities have been choosing UNICEF or the Red Cross
